Nairobi traders: matching your verified country to the features you see
Products, payment methods and P2P options on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget can differ by country and verification level. How Kenyan users can check their own account before depositing.
Multiple exchanges | Kenya | KES | fees, access and account safety
A video or a friend shows a feature on an exchange, you open an account in Kenya, and the button simply is not there. That is normal. What each account can use depends on the country it is registered in, the verification level and the rules of the entity that serves that country. None of this is visible from outside. The only reliable source is your own logged-in account, and checking it before you deposit saves money and frustration.
Start from your profile country and verification level
Open the profile page and note the country your account is registered in and your current verification level. These two facts decide much of what you will see. If the country is wrong, fix it through the exchange's own verification process with documents that match. Do not use a different country to unlock a feature; that is a common reason accounts get restricted later, often when you are trying to withdraw.
Check the payment routes for shillings
Open the deposit or buy crypto section and look for the methods offered to you for Kenyan shillings, such as P2P with M-Pesa or bank transfer, or a card through a partner. Tap into each one and read the conditions on screen. If no shilling route appears, that tells you how you will have to fund the account. Check this before relying on the exchange for regular purchases.
Tap into the products you plan to use
Open each product you care about, such as spot, futures, Earn or P2P, and look for notices or disabled buttons. Some restrictions only appear after you tap. Read any banner at the top of the app and follow its link to the exchange's help article. Take a screenshot of anything that limits what you can do, with the date, so you can compare later if the situation changes.
Make sure there is a way out
Before depositing a meaningful amount, open Withdraw for the assets you plan to hold and confirm the networks you would need are available to you, and that P2P selling to shillings works if you plan to cash out that way. Deposit a small amount and test the full loop. An account that lets money in but not out is not one you want to fund heavily.
